Plas-Tech engineers developed plastic syringes as an alternative to glass syringes. Our COC and COP glass-replacement plastic syringes have improved accuracy and performance advantages over traditional syringes made of glass.
Our COC and COP syringes are available in 100% silicone-free configurations and are 100% DMSO compatible. Ideal for use with hyaluronic acid, Botox, embolics, and more. These syringes can be a lower-cost option, are shatter resistant, and are available with sterilization options of EO, Gamma, and steam autoclave.
Glass-replacement syringes weigh 50% less than glass, which reduces shipping costs, and compared to glass, they have better chemical resistance and very low protein and water absorption.
What’s the difference between COC and COP plastics?
COC, or Topas Cyclic Olefin Copolymer, is often used in the pharmaceutical and medical industries. The unique processing methods that PTE has developed with COC material have allowed us to produce a high-quality product that exceeds the accuracy and performance standards set by glass syringes. The superior moisture barrier on our COC medical syringes extends the shelf life of some pharmaceutical solutions by 3 years. The drug remains pure in COC syringes because COC is biologically inert, with very low extractables.
COP, or Zeon Cyclic Olefin Polymer, has similar properties to COC, but is less brittle and can be made in a wider variety of sizes or complex-shaped containers. COP syringes are increasingly popular in applications where high-viscosity products require high strength and high transparency. These will ensure that the product is thoroughly injected.
